DJ Ray Dartley launches Positive Age Week

Popular DJ Ray Dartley helped launch Positive Age Week at a small tea party in the Merion Hotel yesterday(18.11.08). Pensioners Maeve Reilly, John Murphy and Mary O'Keefe joined him to toast the new initative.

Positive Age Week's central aim is to dispel the many negative perceptions that surround ageing and to transform attitudes. It is also an opportunity to raise many needed funds for the charity.

Lorraine Dorgan, deputy chief executive of Age Action Ireland said:"We need to celebrate the fact that we are living longer;that ageing is not such a burden but an opportunity. I would like to encourage as many people as possible around the country to take part in Positive Age Week."
During Positive Age Week, people are encouraged to organise parties that celebrate the elderly. They can be anything from a small family gathering to a street a street party. A nominated fundraiser at each party will accept donations from those attending.
Age Action Ireland is the national independent organisation on ageing and older people. Its main aim is to improve the quality of life of older people especially those who are most disadvantaged and vulnerable by enabling them to live, full independent and satisfied lives for as long as they wish to stay in their own homes.
Positive Age Week will run from Monday 8th-Sunday 15th December 2008. To register as a fundraiser for Positive Age Week contact Lorraine Dorgan on 012345678 or visit http://www.ageaction.ie/.

Google...Getting to No.1!!

Usually when I go onto the google webpage and i'm looking up something I usually just click the first link that is on the page because I really couldn't be bothered searching through all the other links.
When you're actually looking for just a small piece of information you can never find it because of that many pages that are almost unnecessary!! The internet is a super highway of information so tahnks to search engines such as google we are able to find the information we need. The most necessary links are more than likely the ones we see at the side of the page because thay are called paid links and contain all necessary and inmportant facts we need. The most suprising thing about these paid links is the fact that only 20% of internet users click on them because people click the Organic links at the beginning of the page.
Caompanies are in a constant battle with each other every single day to appear number one on google. Search Engine Optimisation involves getting links to your site by identifying key words and phrases. Think in a simple way think in the way that other people would when entering a phrase into google. When setting up your webpage include the key phrase in the title of your webpage. This inturn increases your chance of appearing number one.
With the internet becoming such a popular place for people shopping, blogging and doing business online I believe that it is very important for a business to take advantage of the internet as much as possible and I believe that it is more beneficial for companies to use paid links because that way more people will see your page and you will always be number one!!!
